Sophistry is a small personal project. When you click "Suggest this example" on a technique page, a lightweight signal is sent immediately, before your submission completes, so a failed or abandoned attempt is still logged. That signal includes the page you were on and a referrer value (where you arrived from, or the page's query string, if either is present). If you complete the submission, this site also collects an optional name, an optional email address, the example (person, quote, source, and any note) you choose to submit, which technique the example is for, the page you submitted from, the same referrer value described above, a hidden anti-spam field used to detect automated submissions, and a hashed version of your IP address (never the IP itself).
Submissions are processed by Lumara Forms, a form-handling service also run by the person who built this site, and stored so submissions can be reviewed before any example is added to the site. Nothing you submit is published automatically.
If you provide an email address, it is used only to reply to you about your submission if needed. It is not shared with anyone else, added to a mailing list, or used for any other purpose.
This site does not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics beyond standard hosting logs.
Questions about this policy or a submission you made can be sent tochris@achris.co.uk.
